The holiday season has officially begun! Last week we celebrated Thanksgivukkah at the beach with my husband’s family. You know, Hanukkah began on Thanksgiving day and this will not happen again for another 77,000 years. I just thought this was so cool. I adore hearing my children say the traditional nightly blessings, trying their hardest to get the hebrew right. We are surrounded by family and history and love and food. So…much…food. We eat, we drink and we relax. The comforts of home and family can’t be beat.
The Epic Holiday Giveaway
Right now, right here and on a bunch of other kick booty blogs you can win the absolute comforts of home. 3 winners. One will win a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer, one a Keurig K65 Brewing System, and one a Kindle Paperwhite. Gift it or keep it for yourself with love from us. A whole lotta love. Picture yourself cuddled up on the couch with a nice cup of hot chocolate, something yummy and a good book.
How I Rock the Holidays
Here’s the thing. I don’t cook. I can, I just really don’t enjoy it. I don’t drink coffee but I love how simple my Keurig is. I make my Snapple Peach Tea every day in seconds and I am known to love a good cup of hot chocolate too. With the Keurig everybody gets just what they want. I keep coffee pods for the masses who demand it upon waking.
When I really want to relax, I read. I clean up for the cooks and make the drinks for the thirsty and then I get my time to kick back with a book.
I would love to tell you that I read all meaty books full of knowledge and insight and perfect prose but no, this is not what I pick up to relax. I go for the feel good gold. Historical fiction and fantasy really floats my boat. My favorite books have been around forever and Ms. Gabaldon has a cult like following. If you have not read the Outlander series, you are missing out on Mr. Jamie Fraser and the romance that spans centuries. Oh my is it good. Every page, every book, every kiss, every character. Get your Kindle out and read them all. Then go ahead and attack the Game of Thrones series and finally, every book ever written by Phillipa Gregory. She has a new book out, The Kingmaker’s Daughter. I die of excitement. I can’t wait to read it. Oh where a good book can take you!
To really rock the holidays, I am suggesting you curl up with a yummy warm drink made in just seconds in your Keurig, some lovely baked good whipped up in your Kitchenaid mixer and a huge hunk of romance and history and drama brought to you by any of the authors above. Or whatever book you like. These are just some really good reads.
