Could you even imagine a day without clean water? A day where you actually couldn’t struggle to drink 8, 8 ounce glasses because there wasn’t even 1 to drink?
Could you imagine, as a woman and a mother, being completely limited in life to collecting water? Water means survival, with women and children bearing the brunt (76%) of the burden for collecting this precious resource. They can walk miles each day to fill a 40 pound jerry can from often polluted sources. In just one day, 200 million work hours are consumed by women collecting water for their families. This is like building 28 empire state buildings each day. Wow.
Could you imagine having no sanitation, where a case of diarrhea could easily kill you or your child? Lack of sanitation is the world’s leading cause of infection and 90% of the deaths due to diarrhea are children under 5 years of age. Every 21 seconds a child dies from diarrhea. 4,100 deaths every day.
It is devastating. I know.
I don’t need to go on, right? Water IS a precious resource and 884 million people in our world lack access to clean water. Of those, 3.4 million precious people die from water, hygiene and sanitation related causes each year.
You Can Save a Life. You. Right Now.
There is good news. This is a problem we can tackle. There are teams of people working all over the world to get water to communities that need it, teach them about cleanliness and sanitation and save lives.
You might not believe it, but $25 can provide water to a person for life.
Water.Org works with communities to provide permanent solutions. Lack of community involvement causes most projects to fail, but in letting a community take ownership, Water.Org’s projects can and do succeed. They save lives.
You can save lives.
I am Asking You to Help
I am working with The Mission List and Water.Org to raise enough money to save 10 lives over the next 10 days. If you can give, please do. Any gift helps. Even a few dollars. And that gift goes toward life.
I myself am giving. I am giving in in honor of the babies I have lost and the children I am lucky enough to have. I am giving because it is the right thing to do. I am giving because I want to see change in this world, and I want to lend my voice and my resources to causes that matter.
Click on the link above or on the badge below to be taken to the donation page.
If you cannot give financially, you can start a fundraiser yourself or through your school, church or other community group. I am doing this as well. Seriously, people without water and I can really do something? No brainer!
You can purchase a CamelBak water bottle where $10 of each sale goes to water.org.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping. I do not ever ask for financial donations, but this ask is so small and for so much. I am proud to be a part of this campaign and I love seeing all the good that is in this world. You are a part of that. You really rock.
Now let’s get on with the saving lives! Go!
